Margarita Zafrilla Olayo

Margarita Zafrilla Olayo dances across practices, contexts and art forms. She is an artist born in Madrid and living in London since 1999 working with dance and performance, choreographic projects and objects, film, and installation, grounding herself on questions on how our bodies are transformed by movement. Her work has been presented at MACRO ASILO—Museo d'Arte Contemporanea di Roma; the Venice Biennale 2019—GAD Giudecca Art District and Gervasuti Foundation; Moskosel Creative Lab—Northern Sustainable Futures; Spirals & Horizontal Connections—Independent Dance; DARC—Documentation Action Research Collective; What is Performance Philosophy? She has danced and collaborated in the choreographic projects of Trisha Brown and Gordon Matta-Clark (Barbican Art Gallery), Linda Remahl (site-specific project Lapland Sweden), Fred Gerhig (Chrocane Theatre), Florence Peake (YSP Longside Gallery), Tai Shani (Hayward Gallery), Lina Lapelyte (DRAFT), Pablo Bronstein (Tate Britain), Eva Recacha (Spain Tour), Theo Clinkard (UK tour), DV8 (Tate Modern), Frauke Requardt (Sadler’s Wells Theatre and The Place Theatre), Cally Spooner (Serpentine Sackler Gallery), amongst others.
